Deep, then pause
Water thoroughly until a little escapes through the drainage holes, then wait until the upper layer of soil begins to dry. This encourages a stronger root system than frequent shallow sips.
- Check pots in the morning during hot weather.
- Feel the soil a few centimeters below the surface.
- Never let containers stand in water for long periods.
